- The white JBL Control 47HC is a passive 6.5" coaxial ceiling loudspeaker with a multi-tap transformer designed for voice amplification and foreground music reproduction in a variety of high-ceiling venues ranging from retail stores to restaurants. The 60W transformer allows the Control 47HC to be driven by 70V, 100V, or 8-Ohm power amplifiers (available separately). Each Control 47HC is equipped with a durable 6.5" polypropylene woofer and a 1" soft dome tweeter, yielding a frequency response of 70 Hz to 14 kHz, and a continuous program power capacity of 150W.

Specified these for a barn conversion where the ceiling is 5.5 metres at the apex and ordinary ceiling speakers just wash the walls. The narrow pattern on the 47HC actually gets the sound down to head height instead of into the rafters. The cut-out came out at 232mm against the template, which is a big hole to be cutting between joists, so measure twice before the hole saw comes out.

Our electrician fitted eight of these into a double-height atrium and had them wired and tapped before we lost the light. Running on 100 volt line from a single amp in the plant room, four watts a tap, and the coverage is even from the door to the far end of the mezzanine.
