Used for: 6–12 months
Detachable magnetic palm rest that actually detaches cleanly
Full size and then some, thanks to the media column
The palm rest snaps on and off with one hand, which matters if the desk doubles as a dining table on weeknights. Length is the catch: with the media keys down the right it is a longer board than most full size ones.
Used for: Less than a month
Went on the desk on the Saturday and by the Sunday evening the whole room had been re-lit to match it. The typing is good too, though the lighting is doing most of the selling.
Used for: More than a year
Cheap at the price and still going strong
Used for: 6–12 months
Optical switches feel quicker than the mechanical board it replaced
Nothing scientific to offer, but the difference between this and the browns it replaced is obvious the moment you go back to the old one
Used for: 1–3 months
Types well, looks ridiculous, and I love it!
Used for: More than a year
This has outlasted two mice and a headset. The legends are still readable, the switches all register on the first press, and the only maintenance has been pulling the caps once to get the biscuit crumbs out. What sold me originally was the media column: a proper volume wheel and dedicated keys rather than a function-key combination. I use the wheel constantly and would find it hard to go back to a board without one!
Used for: 3–6 months
The light bar along the top is the best RGB gimmick I have owned
The software is slow to load and occasionally forgets a profile
The strip of lighting along the top edge does something the per-key RGB never quite manages: it throws colour onto the wall behind the desk rather than into your eyes. Set it to a slow warm fade and the whole corner of the room changes character in the evening. Swarm II is the weak part. It takes an age to open, and twice now it has come up with a default profile instead of mine, which a restart fixes. Four months of that has been mildly annoying rather than actually a problem.
Used for: More than a year
Optical switches with no chatter after a great deal of use
The palm rest is a fingerprint magnet
Bought during a sale and expected it to be a stopgap until something fancier came along. It is still here. The optical switches have not developed a single double-press, which is more than I could say for the mechanical board before it, and that one lasted about a year. The palm rest is soft-touch plastic and shows every mark. A wipe sorts it, but you will be wiping. The keys themselves have held up far better and there is barely a shine on the movement block.

Brightest keyboard I have ever put on a desk, and I mean that kindly!
