Replaced a 27 inch 5K that had been the best screen I owned for a long time, and the extra inches at the same density have changed how I lay out a working day. The density is the entire point. At 200 per cent scaling nothing is interpolated, so text is as sharp as a printed page and a full-size photo fits with the tool panels open on either side of it. Coming from a 32 inch 4K, where 150 per cent was always slightly wrong, this is the version of the idea that finally works. Colour was close enough out of the box that I did the profiling run mostly out of habit. Uniformity is good rather than perfect, with a very slight lift in the bottom right corner that shows on a grey field and never once in real work. My only genuine gripe is the refresh rate, and it is one I knew about when I ordered. A 60Hz desktop feels slow now and there is no getting round that. For photo and layout work I would still buy it again without hesitating!

No complaints at all about the picture or the build quality. The controls are the weak spot, four unlabelled buttons tucked under the bottom edge that you end up pressing by counting along from the right.

The reason it stays on the desk is that nothing about it has changed. Same white point, same uniformity, same behaviour when it wakes from sleep. Fourteen months in I re-profiled it and the correction was so small I could have skipped the exercise. Four stars only because 60Hz is a compromise I feel on every day I am not editing.

Text is the whole reason for buying it and it delivers: at 200 per cent everything is razor sharp with none of the fudging that 150 per cent does. Dragging a window about does look like a slideshow next to my gaming panel!

Profiled it when it arrived and checked again a year later, and the numbers had barely moved, which is more than either of the last two screens managed. The one-cable idea does fall down a little with a 16 inch laptop, because it charges but slowly whenever the machine is working hard.

Storing the calibration in the panel itself is the feature I did not know I wanted. Move the machine, reinstall the operating system, plug a different laptop into it, and the screen is still right. No profile to chase, no argument with an application that ignores colour management. A year and a half of that and I have stopped thinking about colour entirely, which is rather the point. Pivoting it into portrait is a two-handed job, mind.
