Used for: 6–12 months
Text fringing on thin fonts is still visible
Wonderful for games. Small text still carries a faint colour edge, which the subpixel layout explains but does not fix.
Used for: More than a year
360Hz is silly and I love it
1440p across 34 inches is not sharp
Fast enough that my aim is now very clearly the bottleneck!
Used for: 1–3 months
Everything about it feels top of the range, the stand included
What surprised me was not the panel, which I had read about endlessly before ordering, but all the hardware around it. The stand is a heavy, properly machined thing that drops low enough for a tall chair and rises high enough for a standing desk, swivels smoothly and does not wobble when somebody knocks the table. The joystick for the menu sits exactly where your thumb lands. There is a tripod mount on top for a camera, a headphone hook that slides out of the side, and cable routing that actually holds a thick display cable rather than pretending to. The panel is as good as everybody says. Blacks are true, the speed is absurd, and the coating copes with my south-facing window far better than the older QD-OLEDs did. It is a great deal of money and it does feel like a great deal of money, which is not something I could say about the last screen I bought at half the price!
Used for: 3–6 months
Motion clarity at 360Hz is the real thing
You give up sharpness for the speed
Came off a 240Hz IPS assuming the step to 360 would be marketing, and in a fast shooter it is not. Tracking a player at close range holds together in a way it simply did not before, and the OLED response means there is no smear trailing behind either. What you pay for that is resolution. 3440 across 34 inches is not sharp by current standards, and after a day on a 4K panel at work, coming home to this feels like a step backwards until my eyes settle. Text is usable rather than crisp. Five months in I have settled into using it for games and the laptop screen for anything with a lot of reading, which was not the plan but works well enough. If you only game on it, ignore that middle paragraph entirely!
Used for: 3–6 months
The picture was superb while it lasted
A dull patch has developed in the top corner
The panel looked superb at the start and I was ready to write a very different review to this one. Then a dull patch appeared in the top left corner, most obvious on a white page, and it has spread slowly since. Four months in, on a screen at this price, that is not something I can shrug off. Everything else about it, the speed, the contrast, the stand, has been exactly as advertised, which somehow makes it worse.
