ATX rather than E-ATX, so it fits a normal case
Only four M.2 slots where the Extreme has five
Picked the Hero over the Extreme because I wanted a board that fits a standard case without an argument, and I have not missed anything except one M.2 slot. Memory at 8000 first time, Wi-Fi 7 connected instantly, VRM in the forties under a long export. The Q-Release button is on this one too, which was the feature I actually cared about. Four months of exports and it has never once been the thing that slowed me down.

Rear IO includes two USB4 ports that do everything they claim
Front USB-C header is right under the graphics card
Both USB4 ports drive a 4K display and a fast enclosure at the same time, which is more than my old Thunderbolt card managed. The only fiddle in the build was the front panel USB-C header, which sits directly under where the graphics card lands, so fit that cable first

Swapped over from an AM5 machine and this was the smoothest platform change I have done. Everything about the build is designed for someone who has done it before and is tired of the fiddly bits. Drives clip in, the graphics card releases with a button, the front panel pins come as one block, and the standoff positions matched my case without hunting. It posted on the first press with the 8000 profile enabled. A week and a half in and I have not had to touch a setting since. If I had to find something, the aerial cable is short enough that the base has to sit right behind the case, but that is genuinely all I have.

Reliable, cool and quiet with a 265K
A BIOS update reset every fan curve without warning
Very good board let down slightly by firmware manners. It has been completely stable, the memory profile has held, and thermals have never been a talking point. But an update in the spring wiped my fan curves and the machine ran loud for a week before I worked out why. Export your profile to a stick before you update anything.
