Bought for the kitchen to replace a smart speaker that wanted the wifi, an account and a phone in my hand before it would play the news. This wants a plug and a dial. Reception is the honest caveat. The house has thick stone walls and a metal-backed extractor, and with the aerial down there is hiss across half the FM band. Extended and angled towards the window it holds Radio 4 rock steady, so it is solvable, just not automatic. The sound is the surprise. One speaker of about 10cm, and speech stays clear over a noisy kitchen while music has more body than anything that size has a right to. The dial has a proper flywheel feel, and my mother, who is 80 and hates menus, worked it out in a second!
