Worth saying that this is a different product depending on what it is plugged into. On our old router it was a second network name and a nuisance that phones refused to leave. With the new one it joined the mesh, took the same name, and the phone now walks from the front door to the shed at the bottom of the garden without a stutter. Same box, completely different experience!

Bought mainly for the socket on the back of it. The television and the console in the back room were both on wireless and both stuttered every evening, and now they are wired into the extender it has stopped completely. The wireless side is good rather than transformative, and I suspect that is our fault rather than the box. Our router is a generation behind, so nothing here runs at the speed the name promises. Paired with a matching router I would expect a great deal more. As it stands the back room went from about 60 down to around 210, which is more than enough for what we do in there.

Signal-wise this has been excellent and the far end of the house is finally usable, but the thing to check before ordering is whether your router speaks the same mesh standard it does. Ours does not, so the extender puts out its own network name, and phones cling to the weaker one all the way down the stairs until you turn the wireless off and on again. That is not the extender being faulty, it is simply how it behaves without a matching router, and I do wish the box said so in larger letters. A year on, I have got used to it.

Three stars, and it is the honest kind rather than the angry kind. It does extend the signal, and the back of the house went from unusable to workable, so on the basic promise it delivers. What it does not do is give you the speed the name suggests. Everything an extender relays has to be received and then sent again, and unless the router and the extender keep a band to themselves for that conversation you get roughly half. Measured standing at the extender I see about 400. Measured on a laptop sitting right next to it, more like 190. That is not a fault, it is physics, but nothing on the box prepares you for it. If a cable can reach the far room, run the cable. If it truly cannot, this is a decent way of admitting defeat.

The coverage is fine. The reliability is the problem. Roughly every 3 weeks it stops passing traffic while still showing a perfectly happy blue light, and the only fix is to pull it out of the socket and put it back in. I have updated the firmware, moved it to a different socket and changed the channel, and the pattern has not shifted. It is not frequent enough to be intolerable and it is annoying enough to be worth writing down, particularly as the person who notices is always somebody upstairs on a call rather than me. Three stars: good when it is working, and it is working most of the time.
