Replaced a pair of fixed cameras that between them still left a gap by the side gate, and this one covers the lot from a single mounting point. Night performance is the surprise. On the colour sensor with the light off it still gives a usable picture from the street lamp alone, and when it does switch to infrared there is none of that white glare bouncing back off the wall that ruined the last camera I had in that spot. Faces are recognisable rather than merely present. Two warnings for anyone fitting one. It is heavy, so the bracket wants a proper fixing into brick rather than the render, and get somebody to hold the ladder. And the web interface is dense to the point of hostile, full of settings you will never touch, so allow yourself an evening with it rather than half an hour before dark.

Installed on the gable end of a farm building covering a yard, a barn door and about eighty metres of track, which is more than any fixed camera was ever going to manage. The zoom is the reason to buy it. At full reach it will read the make and model of something parked at the far gate, in daylight or under the white light at night, and the image holds together rather than dissolving into smear. Presets mean it swings to the barn when the beam breaks and returns to the yard afterwards on its own. PoE made the install a single cable job up a ladder, which at that height mattered a great deal. Eight months in, through a winter of gales, it has not moved a millimetre out of alignment and the housing has stayed dry inside. Not a cheap camera and not a beginner's one, but it does exactly what the specification says.

Two sensors is the trick here: one keeps the wide view while the other zooms in on whatever moved. Watching the yard on one feed and a face on the other at the same time is exactly what I wanted and could not get from a single lens
