Reading on it one-handed is where it surprised me, because a Windows machine this size has no business sitting at just under 900 grams. Where it stops being clever is that the tablet on its own is not a laptop. The cover that turns it into one is a separate purchase, and you tend to discover that at the basket rather than on the shelf

Two windows side by side at readable sizes is the thing I use hardest, a call on one half and the spreadsheet on the other, and at 13 inches that is genuinely usable rather than a party trick. Leave it in a bag over a quiet week, though, and it comes out flat. Four stars for that alone.

The point of it over an iPad is that nothing has to change. The same photo editor, the same VPN client, the same awkward internal tool that only ships for Windows, all of it just opens. Docked at work it drives a 27 inch monitor and behaves like a desktop, then unclips onto the sofa and is a tablet again. Heavier than an iPad, though, and the bag knows it!

The whole photo library lives on it now, which was the entire reason for the bigger drive, and there is still room to spare with all the old scans on there as well. It does whirr away when Lightroom gets going, though!

Bought it to stop carrying a laptop and a paper notebook to site visits, and on a desk it does exactly that. Type cover on, a second window docked to the side, and it behaves like any other machine. On a train tray table the kickstand is another matter. It wants more depth than the tray gives you, so it ends up angled on my knees where I can just about read it
