The panel is superb and I am still furious. 8 months of updates arriving overnight, each one putting the energy saving back on and dimming everything, each one losing the settings I had. Apps reshuffle themselves on the home screen too, though that is the least of it. A picture this good managed by software this bossy is genuinely infuriating.

We put this off for two years because of the price, then spent an evening in a shop looking at the same film on 8 different sets, which settled it. Nothing else does a night scene properly. The rest turn a dark room into a grey one. A year and a bit later the enthusiasm has not faded. It is on most evenings, the sport looks superb once you stop the smoothing, and the flush mount means the whole thing reads as a picture frame rather than a piece of equipment. The sound is thin, which everybody says and everybody is right about, so there is a bar underneath. One warning: the updates arrive whenever they like and twice now have quietly changed a picture setting. Nothing broke and nothing looked wrong for long, but write down what you set!

Bought for the cricket and it has more than earned its keep. The outfield does not shimmer on a pan the way it did on the old set, and the ball stays a ball. Everything else it does well is a bonus!

Replaced an ancient plasma that had started to buzz, and the first dark film made the point in about 10 seconds. Black is black rather than dark grey. Set it to the film preset, turned the energy saving off and left everything else alone.
