Two screens, network, card slots and charging off one lead
Set it up on a Sunday afternoon and the desk has not looked the same since. Two monitors on the HDMI outputs, the wired network, both card readers, a mouse, a keyboard and the laptop charging, all from one connection. The thing I did not expect is how solid it feels. It has weight to it, rubber feet that grip, and the ports are stiff enough that a cable does not fall out if you nudge it. Cheap hubs slide about and wobble; this one stays exactly where you put it!
Used for: 3–6 months
Every port you could want, and they all work together
Bigger and heavier than it looks in the photos
Fourteen ports sounds like showing off until you count what was plugged into the back of the old machine. Not a travel hub, mind
Used for: More than a year
The USB-C data ports on the side are slower than the ones at the back
Two years of daily use and it has outlasted the laptop it was bought for, which says enough. Only thing worth flagging for a new buyer is that not every port is equal: the two on the side are fine for a mouse or a stick but noticeably slower for a drive, and nothing on the casing tells you that.
Used for: 3–6 months
The 4K output is properly 60Hz, not the usual 30
Needs its own power supply to do everything at once
Smooth desktop on the second screen, which the last hub could not manage. Just be ready to give up a mains socket for it
Used for: 6–12 months
Wired network is quicker and steadier than the laptop's wifi
Bought mainly for the ethernet port and it has been the making of the home office. Video calls stopped dropping the moment it went in. Nine months on it has never needed a restart or a driver update.
