This is really a charger with a hub bolted on, and once you think of it that way it makes sense. It sits behind the telly in the spare room, takes the mains directly, and hands out enough power for a work laptop, a tablet and two phones at the same time without any of them slowing down. Two years on the only fault is a faint mains hum from the transformer, audible in a silent room at night but not from a metre away. The captive lead is my other grumble: it is a good length but you cannot swap it for a shorter one, so the excess is coiled up behind the unit gathering dust.

One box replaced four chargers and a hub on the sideboard

The sideboard by the front door used to hold four different chargers, a multi-way adapter and a small hub, all with their own leads going nowhere useful. This replaced the lot. Laptop on the high-power port, both phones on the smaller ones, a screen on the HDMI for when somebody wants to work down there, and the mains going into one socket instead of four. It loses a star for the display side rather than the power side: it will do a second screen but only at 60Hz, and the port is on the back where you cannot see it, so plugging in means turning the whole unit round.
