Heavier and deeper than the dimensions prepare you for
Five stars because the machine is superb, and one long grumble about getting it onto a desk. It arrived heavier than two people want to lift comfortably and deeper than a standard desk will take without the cables fouling the wall, so what was meant to be an hour turned into an afternoon of moving furniture. None of that is a fault exactly, but the dimensions on the page do not prepare you for the reality of the thing in a room.

Cable management at the back is an afterthought
No faults at all in two years of hard use, and the only thing I would change is the cable management at the back, which is an afterthought on an otherwise beautifully thought-out machine.
Used for: Less than a month
Out of the crate, imaged and working the same afternoon, and the first big job came back in a third of the time we had budgeted. Sixty-four gigabytes will be the limit before the processor is, though that suits the work we do.

Holds its clocks through a six-hour solve
Sixty-four gigabytes was the right call for us and I want to explain why, because the temptation is always to buy the biggest number. Our scenes are moderate and our compiles are long, so what mattered was cores and sustained clocks, not capacity, and this configuration has never once run short in a year of daily work. What it has done is hold its speed. Six-hour solves finish at the same rate they started, which the machine before it managed for about ninety minutes before quietly giving up. If your work is short and enormous, buy the memory. If it is long and steady, buy this.
Used for: Less than a month
Steady under load from the first day
It is enormous
Silent at idle, steady under load, and enormous!
Used for: Less than a month
The first thing it did was a job the old machine had refused to finish twice. Took forty minutes.
