Worth checking the memory speed the moment you switch it on. Mine arrived running at the board default rather than the profile the sticks are sold at, which on this processor is worth a solid 10 per cent in the games that lean on it. One toggle in the firmware and it was sorted, but plenty of buyers will never look, and the builder should have done it before it left the bench. Aside from that it is a magnificent thing. Cool, quiet, quick, and the interior is a lesson in how to route cables. Daily use since spring with not a single crash!

Bought it half for the performance and half because my old tower was an eyesore, and it has more than earned its place on the desk. The lighting is subtle if you take five minutes to tune it down from the shop floor setting it arrives with, and the distribution board behind the panel means every fan matches without a single visible wire. My partner, who resented the whole idea of it, now asks me to leave the lights on in the evening. Small victory!

One star, and I have sat on it since the weekend before writing. The drive it shipped with throws errors under any sustained write. Copying a large game across drops to a crawl and the event log fills with resets. Everything else runs, so the machine boots and games and looks fine until you actually move data around. Opening it up did not improve my mood. The cooler mounting bracket was finger tight on one corner, the front fan cable was routed straight through the intake path, and there was a loose screw sitting on the power supply shroud that had clearly been rattling around since the bench. For the money this is the single worst assembled machine I have owned.

Performance has never been the issue. What became the issue was wanting to add anything a year later. The motherboard the builder chose has two memory slots, one usable M.2 once the card is in, and no rear USB-C at all, so every upgrade path I might have taken is either blocked or awkward. On a machine sold as the flagship that is a strange place to save. It still games beautifully, and 18 months on it holds its frame rates as well as the day it arrived, but I would look at the specification sheet very carefully next time.

What sold me was the headroom. Spare memory slots, a second M.2 sitting empty, a power supply with enough left in it to take a bigger card in a couple of years, and enough space behind the tray to actually route new cables rather than cram them. Four months in I have already added a 4TB drive for captures and it took ten minutes with a screwdriver I did not really need. Gaming is exactly as promised, though that was never in doubt at this specification.
