Beautiful screen and completely silent
Three stars, and it is a lovely machine, which is precisely why the reservations matter. 24GB sounds generous and it is soldered in, so it is also final. Nine months in, with a photo library, a browser that is never closed and a video call most days, it is fine. Whether it will still be fine in five years is a question I cannot answer and cannot fix. The second thing is the ports. Two on the back, both the same shape, and everything else in the house is the other shape, so there is now a hub hanging off it and the tidy desk is less tidy than the photographs promise. The third is that it does everything beautifully until it does not, and there is nothing inside that a person can change. It is a screen with a computer glued to it, and that is the deal.

One cable to the wall and the desk is clear
The whole desk changed when this arrived, which sounds like an advert and is simply what happened: one cable to the wall and nothing else. What it is good at is obvious within an hour. The screen is far better than the one it replaced, it wakes the instant a key is touched, and it has never made a sound, not once, not even with a call running and 20 tabs open. What costs it a star is less obvious and worth knowing. The ports are all on the back, though, so a memory stick means standing up and reaching round. There is no way to add memory later, so whatever is ordered on the day is what it has for life. And the stand does not go up or down, which for a tall person means books underneath. None of that would stop me recommending it to somebody who wants a desk to look like a desk.

Wipes clean and still looks new
Ports are all round the back
Eighteen months on a kitchen worktop, used by everybody in the house, and it has never once been restarted for anything other than an update. It still looks new

One object where three used to sit
No way to add memory later
Replaced two boxes and a monitor with one object, and my desk has not been this clear in years. Quiet, quick, and the screen is the reason to have it
Used for: 3–6 months
Bought for my mother, who had been struggling with a laptop that asked for a password four times before it would do anything. It has been the right call. Everything is one screen, one cable, one button, and there has not been a single phone call about it since it went on the table. The camera is good enough that the grandchildren look like themselves on a call, and the speakers are loud enough without a separate box on the desk. Four stars rather than five only because moving the files across from the old machine took an evening and a fair amount of head scratching, though the mouse having to be turned upside down to charge is a strange thing to discover as well.

Silent even during a long export
Memory has to be decided on the day you order
It sits in the corner of a shared study and does three jobs: homework, household admin and the occasional evening of editing. Nothing has ever made it hesitate. Eight months in, the things worth reporting are small and good. It has never been heard, even with a long export running. It wakes from the keyboard in under a second. The screen is good enough that the old monitor beside it has been unplugged and taken to the loft. The only grumble is the cost of ordering enough memory at the start, because there is no adding it afterwards!
