Three stars because of one recurring annoyance: after the laptop wakes, the controller is present but silent until I pull the cable out and put it back. It happens perhaps twice a week and it always happens mid-idea. Everything else deserves four or five. The Channel Rack on the pads, the mixer banks, the browser preview, all excellent, and the pad velocity is consistent enough that I record drums straight in rather than fixing them afterwards.

Bought as a first proper controller after a year of drawing notes in with a mouse, and the honest verdict is that it has made me faster rather than better. Everything I used to hunt for in menus has a button, so a loop that took an evening now takes an hour. What it does not do is teach you to play. Scale mode keeps the wrong notes out, and I have caught myself leaning on it rather than learning where the black notes go. That is my failing, not the hardware's. Five months in, the pads have stayed even, the knobs have no dead spots and nothing has needed a firmware update. The plastic creaks if you lift it one-handed, but on a desk it stays put and does its job.

Came from a generic controller where every session started with 20 minutes of MIDI learn, and this simply knows what FL is doing. Browser preview, mixer banks, Channel Rack steps, all of it on the hardware. The keybed is where I would push back. It is fine for chords and one-finger bass, but it is light and slightly clacky, and a heavier player will bottom it out. The pads are the better half of the instrument: consistent velocity, and the curve can be changed from the shift menu, which took me a while to find. Four stars, and the missing one is entirely the keys.

Still tracks perfectly and has never once dropped out, which is the important half of it. The half I did not expect is cosmetic: 14 months of near-daily use and the printing around the transport buttons has worn to a ghost. I know where they all are by now
