The gain is quiet enough for a ribbon microphone straight in
USB-C on the box, USB-A on my old machine, so another adaptor
A studio in a converted garage, and this replaced a preamp and a separate converter that used to argue with each other over clocking. A single box now, a single cable, and the clocking problem went with them. It has been through a good many sessions since it landed here. A year and a half on, the only thing that has ever needed a thought is which input the pad is on.
Used for: 1–3 months
Class A gain that stays clean right to the top of the dial
The headphone amp is louder than it needs to be at the bottom of the travel
Recording an acoustic guitar with a pair of small diaphragm condensers, and the pres put a body into the low mids that I used to chase with a plugin and never quite find. Set the gain, play, done. The blue paint is a bit much next to a rack of grey, but I have stopped noticing it!
Used for: 3–6 months
The instrument input is good enough that the DI box has gone in a drawer
Bass straight into the front and the take sits in the mix without a compressor doing the work, which was not true of the interface it replaced. The transformer thing is real, not marketing. Four months in, the only reservation is that this is a two channel box in a two channel case. If a second person turns up with a guitar you are fine, if a drummer turns up you are not. Worth being honest about that before you spend the money.

Two channels, no menus, no software, just gain and record. Brilliant!
Used for: 1–3 months
Two Neve style pres for the price of one boutique channel
Only two inputs, which is obvious but worth saying out loud
The vocal takes needed no EQ afterwards, which has never once happened with anything else I have owned in this room
Used for: 1–3 months
Nothing on the front tells you phantom power is actually on
The pad and the phase buttons are recessed far enough that you will not knock them by accident, which matters when the whole front panel is within reach of an elbow. Sounds superb, obviously!
Used for: More than a year
Built like a piece of studio kit, not a computer peripheral
Still sounds exactly as it did the day it arrived, and it gets used most days
