Five stars because nothing else does what this does, with a list of things to know before you spend the money. The half-terabyte fills faster than you think when every photo is a full-fat one. The case options are thin on the ground. And the fingerprint reader sits on the side edge, which is fine folded and awkward when the thing is open flat on a desk. None of that has stopped it being the device I reach for. Four months in and the novelty has worn off into plain usefulness.

Ordered this after four years on a Galaxy that had started shutting down at twenty per cent in the cold, and the deciding factor was the screen rather than the folding trick. Text at the size I want it, two columns of a document, and a keyboard that splits under the thumbs. Camera notes, since nobody covers the dim end properly: in a pub with the lamps down it holds detail on faces where my old phone smeared everything into soup, and daylight shots are more natural than the oversharpened look I was used to. Night mode still wants a steady hand for a couple of seconds. The mark comes off for software. It ships with a pile of apps I will never open, and clearing them out took an evening I would rather have spent elsewhere.
