First impressions from an install this week. The bracket instructions are a fold out sheet of diagrams that assume you already know what you are doing, and the arm has more adjustment points than seems reasonable until you start using them, at which point you are grateful for all of them. Once up, it is exactly what was wanted. No warm up and no cool down, so it goes off between lessons instead of being left running all day for convenience, which was the argument for buying laser in the first place. The image is clean into all four corners on a proper board, and at 90 inches the back of the room reads normal sized text without anybody squinting.

The worry with these is that the corners go soft and text at the far edge turns to mush, which was certainly true of the last ultra short throw unit we had. Not here. A test pattern is sharp across the whole width, and small text in the far corner is as readable as it is in the middle of the board. The other pleasant surprise was setup. The geometry tools have enough range in them that a slightly out of square bracket was not the disaster it might have been.

Replaced a ceiling mounted lamp projector that had been slowly going yellow, and the difference in the room is bigger than I expected: white is white again, and the light comes from above the board rather than from behind the class. Alignment is the part to budget time for. The mirror geometry means a millimetre at the mount is a centimetre at the far corner, and the corner adjustments all interact with one another, so it is small nudges and a great deal of walking backwards and forwards. Two of us spent an entire afternoon on the first one and 40 minutes on the second. Seven weeks in there has been nothing else to report. It is quiet, it starts instantly, and the picture has not moved.

The old unit hung in the middle of the room and every child who walked up to the board threw a shadow across it. This one sits above the board and that problem simply vanished. Brightness with the strip lights on is more than enough, and nothing about it is loud.
