Coming off a cheap fitness band, the first thing that struck me was the screen. Outdoors in the middle of the day it is readable at a glance with no shading at all, and indoors at night it dims to something that does not light the room up. That reads as minor written down, and it is the difference between glancing at a watch and squinting at one. The battery has been the other revelation. Tracked walks most days, notifications on, the display always on, and it is still showing 50 per cent on the third morning. The band never had a hope of that. Two things keep it off five stars for now. The phone app is a maze of accounts and I still have not found where half the numbers live. The ocean band is also far too warm to sleep in, so the sleep tracking I paid for is waiting on a fabric strap.
