  • JDJack D.18 August 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Replaced two switches and a pile of injectors

    Cons

Heavy enough to want two people at the rack

    Comment

Went in on a Saturday, replaced two smaller switches and a pile of injectors, and every access point came up on the first try. The port map in the web interface is the clearest I have used!

Ports for everything and power for everything, which is all I needed!

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Fibre uplinks and a big PoE budget in one box

    Comment

We needed ten gigabit uplinks to two servers and PoE for a dozen access points in the same box, and there are not many switches at any price that do both without a chassis. This does. The two fibre uplinks carry the backups, the copper ports feed the floor, and the power budget has never come close to its limit even with every port populated. Eight months in it has been rebooted once, for a firmware update, at a time I chose.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Per-port power limits stop one device tripping the lot

    Cons

Far too loud for anywhere but a comms room

    Comment

The thing that sold this over the cheaper option was being able to see the power draw per port and set a limit on each one. We have a camera that occasionally decides to draw far more than it should, and rather than tripping the whole switch it now just gets capped and logged. The fans are not quiet. In a comms room nobody cares, and I would not put it anywhere else, but do not let anyone talk you into standing it on a shelf in an office.

  • OSOscar S.14 July 2026

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

Nothing to say about it, which is the highest praise

    Cons

Size up on power budget if the cupboard runs warm

    Comment

This has been the core of a thirty-person office for a while now and I have very little to say about it, which is the point of a switch. Everything plugs in, everything comes up, and the only time I open the management page is to name a new port. Two years on, one observation worth passing on: the PoE budget on paper and the PoE budget in practice are different numbers once you have a warm cupboard. We got nowhere near the limit, but the fans work noticeably harder in July than in January, and I would size up rather than run one of these close to its ceiling.

  • PHPoppy H.13 July 2026

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

The switching side has been beyond reproach

    Cons

One fan speed, and it is a loud one

    Comment

Ten months in and the switching side has been beyond reproach, so the four stars are entirely about the noise. There is no quiet mode, no temperature-based fan curve worth the name, just a constant whirr from the moment it powers on. Ours lives behind a door and that is fine, but if your rack is in the corner of the office you will regret it within a week.

  • NHNoah H.8 July 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

One page that answers every question about the network

    Comment

We run a small studio with cameras, access points and a couple of servers, and this replaced a stack of three switches that had grown organically over years. One box, one management page, one place to look when something is wrong. Five months in the improvement is less about speed and more about being able to answer questions: which port is that, how much power is it taking, when did it last go down. All of it is there in a plain table.

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

Lost three power bricks and a shelf of clutter

    Comment

Bought it for the two ten gigabit ports and stayed for the PoE. Every camera and access point on site runs from this one box now and the cupboard has lost three power bricks and a shelf of clutter!

  • AHArthur H.28 June 2026

    Used for: 1–3 months

    Pros

    Solid metal and properly built

    Cons

Too deep for a shallow wall cabinet

    Comment

Does everything asked of it, but the rack ears sit it too far forward for a shallow cabinet

  • FEFreya E.21 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Hardware went in without any trouble

    Cons

Documentation describes a firmware that no longer exists

    Comment

Good switch let down slightly by the documentation, which describes an older firmware and a menu structure that no longer exists. Everything is findable, it just takes longer than it should. The hardware itself went in without any trouble and has been solid since

  • MFMillie F.19 June 2026

Used for: Less than a month

    Pros

Dull in exactly the right way

    Cons

Fans start up the moment you power it on

    Comment

Racked and configured in an afternoon. The interface is dull in exactly the way networking kit should be, and the link lights are not so bright that they light the room
