The thing I keep coming back to is how bright it is. Mini LED at this size means daytime films are watchable without drawing anything, and the HDR highlights on a good stream are genuinely startling. Setting it up took twenty minutes including turning off every bit of motion processing.

This has done everything I hoped a big Mini LED would. The backlight is the story. Hundreds of dimming zones means a night scene holds proper black in the letterbox bars while a streetlight stays bright, and at 85 inches you get the impact without the price of the Korean sets. Brightness is more than enough for a room with the curtains open. Where I would temper expectations is blooming. On white text against black, credits, subtitles, a scoreboard graphic, there is a visible halo that a set with more zones would not show. It does not bother me during actual programmes, but fourteen months in it is still the only thing I would change.

Arrived and took three of us to get it upstairs, which is worth planning for at this size. Once up, the picture is excellent straight out of Filmmaker mode with only the brightness adjusted. Sport looks superb, motion is clean and the local dimming behaves itself.
