The room this went in has windows on two sides and a set of patio doors, which had defeated everything we owned before. This one simply gets brighter than the daylight and gets on with it, and the sport in the afternoon looks like sport rather than a grey smear. 18 months in, the only complaints are the ones you would expect. There is a halo around bright things on a black background, so the credits and any starfield give it away, and the sound is thin enough that a bar was never really optional. Neither surprised me at this price and neither would stop me buying it again.

Set it up on a Sunday afternoon and had it exactly how I wanted before the evening film. The standard mode is close enough that most people would leave it alone, though the smoothing wants turning down before anybody watches sport on it. The home screen is the one sour note. 2 rows of promoted films and a banner before you reach anything you have installed yourself. You learn where your own apps are and stop looking at the rest, but it should not be the first thing a set at this price shows you.

The console flags itself when it wakes and the set drops into the low delay mode without being asked. Racing games are as sharp on this as they are on the desk screen upstairs, and 6 months in nobody has complained about the delay once
