Ordered a 75 expecting to regret it in a small semi, and instead the room has rearranged itself around the thing. Do check your unit width first, mine needed a new stand!

Up on the wall within an hour of unboxing, and the first thing we did was put a 4K nature disc on to show it off. It is an absurd amount of telly for the money, and the whole family has been piled in here every evening since!

Bought before the World Cup and it has done every match, every film night and a great deal of daytime nonsense since, without a single grumble. A year and a half on, the picture is exactly as it was at the start. The only running joke is the microphone in the remote, which hears the name of a baking programme as almost anything else. We type now.

Straddling a 140cm sideboard was never going to happen with feet set that far apart, so this went straight onto a bracket and the picture now sits about where a fireplace used to be. Four HDMI inputs, one of them ARC, which just about covers a console, a box and a soundbar with one spare for visitors. No complaints on picture at all for a set at this money. It is not an OLED and does not pretend to be, but for daytime viewing in a bright kitchen diner it is exactly right.

The size is the whole point and it does not disappoint: from the sofa at three metres it fills the wall in a way the old 55 never did. Tizen is quick enough, the solar remote has not seen a charging cable yet, and daytime pictures in a bright room are perfectly respectable. It is a 50Hz panel though, and on a Saturday afternoon with the football on you can see the crowd smear when the camera whips along the touchline. Everything else I would not change.

We came to this from a 49 inch Sony that finally gave up, and the jump in size matters more than any line on the spec sheet. Daytime viewing with both windows uncovered is fine, no need to draw anything, and the anti glare is better than I expected on a Crystal panel. Five months in, the smart platform is the part that has aged. It was snappy at the start; now there is a pause of two or three seconds after every button press, apps reload themselves when you switch back, and the Prime button on the remote opens a screen that wants me to sign in all over again. A restart cures it for a week or so. Sound is thin, as it always is on a set this slim. We ran a bar off eARC and the volume keys still work through it, which is all I wanted.
