    Used for: 6–12 months

    Comment

Runs three screens on the desk and doubles as the charger, so the laptop brick lives in the bag now and never comes out. The build is a solid lump of aluminium that does not slide about when you plug a stiff cable into the back. Marked down only because the power supply is a large external brick with its own barrel connector, so the tidy desk you were promised still has one ugly box under it.

    Pros

Finally a dock that does not need DisplayLink drivers

    Comment

Coming from a DisplayLink dock this is a different world. No driver package that breaks every time the OS updates, no fuzzy text on the second screen, no cursor that tears when you drag a window across. The laptop sees three real monitors because the dock is genuinely passing them through, and that alone was worth the extra over the cheaper units. What costs it a star is the housekeeping around it. The firmware updater is a Windows-only executable with no Mac version, which is an odd choice on a dock whose main audience seems to be MacBook owners. The manual is a folded sheet in six languages that tells you nothing about which port does what, so working out that the top-left USB-C is the host port took longer than plugging everything else in.

Used for: More than a year

    Comment

Over a year of daily plugging and unplugging and the connector is still tight, which is more than the last one managed. Four stars rather than five for the sleep behaviour: wake the laptop and the third display comes back about five seconds behind the other two, every single time. You learn to wait for it. Everything else has been faultless and it has never needed a reboot to sort itself out.

Does everything claimed on a Thunderbolt laptop. On the older USB-C work machine you get two screens and a shrug, so check what your port actually is first!

Used for: More than a year

    Pros

When it is awake it is rock solid

    Cons

Needs unplugging and replugging after a long sleep more often than it should

    Comment

Three stars is a middle mark for a dock that is genuinely good four days out of five. Displays are sharp, the network is quicker than the laptop's own card, and nothing has ever fallen over mid-meeting. The fifth day is the problem. Leave the machine asleep over a weekend and there is a fair chance one screen stays black until the host cable comes out and goes back in. Two years in, three firmware versions later, and it still happens perhaps once a fortnight. For this money I expected that to have been sorted.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Handles two 4K screens and a wired connection without complaint

    Cons

No Kensington slot, which is odd on an office dock

    Comment

Solid bit of kit for a hot desk, though I would like to be able to lock it down!

  • JHJack H.8 August 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Three displays and full charging to the laptop at the same time

    Cons

One of the front USB ports drops to a crawl when the SSD is busy

    Comment

Bought to run a home office off a single lead and it has mostly done that. Two 4K panels and an ultrawide, wired network, keyboard, mouse and a webcam all hang off it, and the laptop charges the whole time rather than slowly losing ground the way it did on the old 65W dock. The bandwidth does run out, though, and you can feel where. Copy a big folder to the external SSD on the back and the front port with the card reader in it slows to a crawl until the copy finishes. It is not a fault, it is physics, but the listing rather implies everything runs flat out together. Four months in and I have simply learned which port to put the drive in.

    Used for: 6–12 months

    Pros

Wakes with the laptop instead of ten seconds after it

    Cons

Ethernet port sits between two USB ports and is a squeeze

    Comment

The wake behaviour is what separates this from the two docks I had before. Lid up, screens on, no black interval where you wonder if it has died. Everything else is competent, but that is the bit you live with daily!

  • ASAva S.25 June 2026

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Cons

Fan-less shell gets genuinely hot under three screens

    Comment

Five stars because it does the one thing I bought it for, which is three 1440p panels and a charging laptop off a single port with no DisplayLink nonsense. Five months in it has not dropped a screen once. Do be aware the aluminium body runs hot enough that I would not sit it on a stack of paper.

    Used for: 3–6 months

    Pros

Three screens, no drivers, no fuss

    Cons

    Gets warm enough to notice

    Comment

Does what the box says, just do not stack anything on it!
