Our headworn capsules are AKG and the bodypacks the hall inherited are Sennheiser, so this little moulded connector was the only thing standing between six mics and a working Sunday service. Screwed on, gain reset, done. Hard to love the price for what it physically is, though.

Bought four when the drama department standardised on Sennheiser packs and refused to bin a perfectly good set of AKG headworn mics. Every capsule now goes on any pack in the rack, which saved us the cost of capsules we did not need to buy. Two years of school productions later and not one of the four has developed a crackle, which is more than I can say for the soldered pigtails a previous technician made up. The MicroDot end stays tight. I check the collars at every get-in and have not had to nip one up yet. Only warning is the collar itself, which is tiny and will vanish into a black stage floor the second you drop it. We keep spares in a film pot in the mic case.

Church PA, four headworn mics, two brands of transmitter and a volunteer team who cannot be expected to know the difference. These make the whole lot interchangeable. You do need one per capsule, mind, which adds up frighteningly fast!

Three stars is about the naming rather than the sound. There are several of these in the MicroLite range and the difference between them is one letter and a pin count, so unless you already know which transmitter family you own you will end up with a drawer of adapters that all look identical. Ours ended up with two that do nothing for us at all. The other grumble is physical. The moulding is fatter than the socket cover on the pack, so with two mics side by side in a presenter pouch the belt clips fight each other. Sound is fine, no noise floor to speak of, and the four we use daily have survived a great deal of touring. Just buy carefully.

No audible difference at all between a capsule on one of these and the same capsule hard-wired, which was the thing I was most worried about. Sits behind the pack on the belt where nobody notices it. Three years of Sunday mornings and it has never once dropped out

We had eight MicroLite capsules sitting in a drawer doing nothing after the transmitters were changed, and rather than write them off we bought adapters. Cheaper than eight new headworn mics by a very long way indeed. They are fiddly to fit if the pack is already on somebody, so we make them up before the performer is dressed, but that is a workflow thing rather than a fault!

Runs with a small hire company, so kit that goes out on a Friday comes back and goes out again on Monday with a different bodypack on the end of it. We carry a tray of these in the flight case and they have quietly removed the single most common phone call we used to get, which was a client ringing to say the mic will not fit the pack. Build is what you would expect at this money: proper strain relief, collar knurled enough to nip up with cold fingers in a dark car park. Nine months of weekends now and none has failed. Four stars only because at a hundred and twenty pounds each you think twice about how many spares to carry, and on a hire tray you want plenty.
