The stand takes far more depth than you expect
A batch of these went into a small architects' office where the desks are shallow and the old towers had ended up sitting on top of them for want of anywhere else. As machines they are unremarkable in the best way — quick enough for drawings and email, quiet enough that nobody notices. The complaint, though, and it is a real one, is the stand: it wants a good deal of depth, and on a shallow desk you end up sitting closer to a screen than you would choose

No tower under a desk that two people share
Ten months in a shared study and the only thing I would change is the graphics. Iris Xe is perfectly happy with two documents and a video call, and it is not happy with anything that draws for a living, which I knew and my son did not. As an everyday machine it is excellent, and having no tower under a desk that two people share has made more difference than the specification ever could

Does the everyday job perfectly well
The one thing I got wrong was assuming I could add to it later. There is nothing in it you can get at: the memory is where it is, the drive is where it is, and when I wanted more of both the answer was a box on the end of a cable. Eight months in it still does the job it was bought for perfectly well. But I have gone from a machine I could feed for years to one that is finished on the day it arrives, and that is worth knowing before you buy rather than after.

On at half six and ready before we are
It sits on the counter of a village post office and gets switched on at half six every morning, and it has never once made us wait for anything!
