Came to this from a budget interface after the podcast outgrew it, and the honest summary is that most of the money buys you the preamp emulations rather than the converters. The converters are good. So were the ones in the box it replaced, if I am being straight about it. Where it earns the difference is on the way in. A guest with a quiet voice and a dynamic microphone used to need a booster on the front of the chain, and now the gain simply goes far enough with nothing audible behind it. That alone changed how the edits sound. Two things to know. It needs a Thunderbolt port, not a USB-C socket that looks the same, and the software is a bigger install than you expect. Neither is a surprise if you read first, but plenty of people clearly do not.
