Upgraded from a budget box that had done seven years of service and was starting to crackle on the left input. First thing that struck me was the weight, this does not slide about when you plug an XLR in. Setup on a Mac was nothing: plug in, install the software, authorise, done. On the PC in the other room it took a firmware update and a restart before it appeared, which is worth knowing before you panic. A fortnight of evenings so far and the driver has not stumbled once at a 64 sample buffer, which the old box could not manage at any setting. The only real gripe is the cost of everything around it, the cable, the plugins, the extra licence. Budget for more than the box!

Bought to replace a mixer and a separate soundcard, and the desk is tidier for it. The monitor knob alone is worth having, proper stepped feel, no wobble, and it mutes with a push! Sounds cleaner than both boxes it replaced put together

Guitar DI into the front and an amp sim in the DAW, and the round trip is low enough that it plays like an amp in the room. Where it falls down, though, is the headphone amp: a pair of 250 ohm studio cans needs the dial almost all the way round before it is loud enough to track against a band.

Podcast work at a kitchen table, of all places, and the Twin copes with a room that was never meant for recording. Gain on a quiet dynamic goes far enough that I never hear the preamp working, which the last interface could not manage. Ten months in and the only thing I have had to learn is to close the software before unplugging, or the laptop sulks.

Two channels is exactly right for a spare room studio, one for the vocal and one for the guitar, with nothing sitting idle. The Twin has been the hub of every session for two years now and the only maintenance has been a firmware update that took a couple of minutes. The preamp emulations are the part worth paying for. A cheap large diaphragm condenser through the right setting stops sounding cheap, and that is not a placebo, because mute it and you hear the difference straight away.
