Sits between the microphone and the PC and does exactly what a stream desk should do. The mute button is the feature I use most, because a cough is no longer a public event. The lighting is the odd choice: it can be dimmed but not killed, so there is a glow on the desk at two in the morning whether you want one or not!

Streaming from a desk that already had too much on it, so a box this size that removes a mixer, an interface and a pile of software routing is doing well before it is switched on. Sound quality first. The preamp is quiet and has enough gain for a dynamic without anything extra in the chain, and the headphone output is loud enough to hear a game over your own voice. Nothing hisses. The dual bus takes an evening to get your head round and then becomes the thing you cannot live without. Game audio at a sensible level for the stream and loud in the cans, chat quiet for viewers and clear for me, all on physical knobs. Whoever thought of it deserves a raise!

A year and a bit under the monitor and the routing has not been touched once. Mic on one knob, game on another, chat on a third, and the two mixes doing their separate jobs without any thought from me. The only wear anywhere is a shine on the mute button, which tells you how much I cough.

Podcast rather than gaming, two of us at a desk, and the limitation shows up immediately: there is one microphone input. My co host goes through a second interface into the PC and comes back on a knob, which works but is not what I wanted. For a solo setup it would be perfect. The preamp is clean, the gain goes far enough for an SM7B, the headphone amp is loud, and the two mixes mean the recording and my monitoring can be completely different things. Two months in and I have stopped touching the software entirely, which for a box like this is the highest praise there is.

Bought to stop wrestling with a virtual audio cable setup that broke every time Windows updated, and on that count it has been a complete success. Mic, game, chat, browser, music, each on its own knob and each with its own level for me and for the stream. Gain is better than I expected at the price. A dynamic that used to need a booster sits comfortably with the dial around two thirds and nothing behind it. The catch is the app though. Close it and the routing falls back to something generic, which caught me out live once, and there is no way to store it on the box itself. Eight months in that is still my only complaint.
