Home screen is half adverts before you reach your apps

The panel is excellent, but the software is a nuisance. Switch it on and the first thing you see is a row of films somebody has paid to put there, then a second row, and your own apps sit further down than they should.

Measured the wall twice and still underestimated it. In a room where you sit about 3 metres back the detail holds together far better than expected, with no soft edges and no fizzing on the grass during a match. Brightness is generous rather than blinding, which suits a room with a big window that never gets its curtains drawn for the football. Half a year in, the only thing I would change is the remote, which is plain and plasticky next to the set it controls!

98 inches is a decision rather than a purchase. The door came off its hinges to get it in and the sofa went back the best part of a metre before the picture stopped feeling like the front row of a cinema. Worth it, in the end. Sport on it is an event and half the family turn up for anything with a whistle in it. A year and a half of steady use and the panel has been faultless. Two things keep it off five stars: the speakers vanish under a big score, which on a set this size feels wrong, and the home screen has grown a row of promoted films that was not there when we bought it. Neither is fatal. Both are annoying.
