This is the piece of hardware that made FL feel like a machine rather than a program. Patterns on the grid, mute and solo on the channel buttons, browser and search on the OLED, and my hands stop going to the trackpad for whole sessions at a time. 18 months on, every pad still lights and triggers, and the rubber has not gone shiny or soft where I hit hardest. The only maintenance has been a wipe with a damp cloth. If you do not use FL Studio there is genuinely no reason to look at it. If you do, it is the best value in the studio by a distance!

Sitting in front of a 4 by 16 grid rather than a piano roll is the whole point, and I now write drums entirely on it. Steps under the fingers, channels down the side, and the OLED tells you which pattern you are on without looking back at the screen. Velocity across the pads is even, which matters once you are playing rather than programming, though they are firmer than an MPC and my hands know the difference. The four knobs are the weak spot: fine for a filter sweep, too coarse for anything you want to automate precisely. Four months in it has replaced the mouse for everything rhythmic.
