Specified for a boardroom where it runs most of the working day, and on brightness alone it does what LG claim. Marked down because the fan is louder than the room deserves once it has been on for an hour, and because the web control panel drops off our VLAN roughly once a week and needs a hard reboot to come back. Several months of that has worn thin. Picture, no complaints.

Seven months in and the honest verdict is that it is a superb projector fighting a difficult room. Ours is a Victorian church hall with a barrel ceiling, so the only mounting point puts it off centre and about a metre high, and correcting that in software costs you the crispness the WUXGA panel is there for. Straight on, with the geometry left alone, it is genuinely beautiful. Skewed, it is merely good. None of that is LG's fault and I would buy it again, but anyone reading this should measure their room before they measure the spec sheet.

Installed in a lecture theatre over the summer break, mounted 5.8 metres back with the HDMI and network run through the ceiling void to a floor box. The pair of us had it up and aligned in a morning, which for something this heavy is fair going. Lens shift covers the drop from the mount to the top of the screen without touching keystone, and that matters more than any spec on the box: every keystoned image I have ever put in front of students has looked soft at the edges. Marked down only because the mount holes did not line up with the universal bracket we had in stock.

We needed something that could sit rotated ninety degrees and run from opening until closing, every day of the week, throwing a portrait image down a gallery wall. The laser does not care. No warm-up, no colour shift by the afternoon, and the installer set it and walked away. First fortnight has been faultless!
